Building The What’s Next Club
Building The What’s Next Club and Figuring Out What Comes Next
If you’ve known me for a while, you’ll know I’ve been talking about creating something new. Well, it’s finally starting to look like a real thing.
The What’s Next Club.
And, honestly, I’ve been working on so many different bits of it that sometimes I have to stop and remind myself what I’m actually supposed to be doing!
There’s the website, the book, courses, ebooks, Life Reflections, Quick Guides, coaching programmes, stories, blogs, videos (eventually) … and approximately five billion other ideas I’ve got lurking in the back of my mind.
It’s exciting. It’s also slightly daunting. I’ve not been so good at believing in myself but I’m determined to build something worthwhile and not take the easy way out when it gets tough (for once).
The idea behind The What’s Next Club is pretty simple. It’s for those times in life when you know something needs to change but you don’t necessarily know what that change should be.
You might feel stuck. You might feel lost. You might have spent years looking after everyone else and suddenly realise you have no idea what you want or even who you are anymore. Or perhaps life has thrown something at you that you didn’t expect and you’re having to work out who you are now.
I’ve certainly been there – many times. And that’s really where this whole idea came from. I’ve rebuilt my life several times – from losing everything I owned in the fallout of a recession, to losing myself almost completely after a nervous breakdown – and I want to create somewhere that isn’t about having all the answers. Somewhere that recognises that when you don’t have a clue what comes next, it’s okay.
My aim is to help people move from feeling stuck and uncertain to feeling clear, confident and excited about the future. And not because some coach-y guru tells you to think positive – that doesn’t help when you’re tearing your hair out because you have no money and you’re living in a tent (yep, that was me!).
This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and it’s one of those projects that occasionally feels incredibly exciting and occasionally makes me wonder why I didn’t choose something easier. I don’t know what I’m doing, I’m useless at marketing, I doubt very much anyone will buy any of my products and I’m totally out of practise at coaching because I’ve been rebuilding my own life.
I don’t have a neat, inspirational story where everything happened for a reason and I came out the other side completely transformed. I’m still struggling.
That’s the sort of honesty I want to bring to The What’s Next Club. Sometimes you just need someone to be with you in the mess of it all and help you work out what’s going on and how to get out of it. Even if you crash and burn a few times – you’re still trying and that’s a pretty powerful starting point.
